Kamtchatka is a peninsula full of volcanos situated in
far-east Russia. While watching a documentary about it,
I was fascinated by the forest buried by the lava and the ashes. People were walking at the top of the trees: the actual ground was located 20 meters underneath their feet. With this strong idea in mind, I had the desire to show a kind of resurrection of this forest, and evoke the growth of it.
These lamps give the feeling that the plexiglas stick is going to break through the latex membrane. The tension of the material is very palpable, its deformation makes its thickness uneven and, therefore the light tends to fade away.
This series of three night-lights create a landscape, and make you in a contemplative mood.
